When it comes to making a right choice, some of us get butterflies in our stomachs and some of us take it carelessly and jump right into decision in haste. In neither of these footings can we make right choices. In olden days, people didn’t have much option to choose from and life was quite simple but today we are bombarded with varieties of choices from choosing our tooth paste to choosing a life partner. With the internet connecting people worldwide, reach of mass communication, enhanced marketing techniques, new innovations, and developed aesthetic sense, there is no end to choices. In midst of all this making right choice has become all the more important.
In India, because of our religious heritage, we often blame our fate for the consequences of our dumb choices. We hardly practice the power of choice to turn situations in our favor, instead we remain indecisive leave it to fate, leave it to chances: it may work out or it may not. On the other hand, the newer generation thinks that they are author of their own life and take decisions every other day. They jump in for this, for that and really don’t reach anywhere with their choices. What is right attitude and right footing to make right choices in life? Let’s give it a thought and try to understand it.
Stick to basics. You may have dreams to pluck stars from the sky, that’s alright, but always begin from basics. One of the best judgments is to think, if your choice is basic need and necessity. First, choose the most important thing for you at that point of time. Do you really need a girl friend or boyfriend in high school? Do you really need Rolex watch or Ray Ban shades when you are in college? Do you really have to always hang out with friends when exams are nearing? Do you really need to shop? Do you really have to bad mouth someone? You may have big dreams and high desires, but make your choices based on what is important and urgent for you at that point of time. Bible says that God humbles those who dwell on high. Isaiah 26:5. You will avoid many wrong choices if you stop occupying your self with lofty, proud and high thoughts.
Stick to what is right. God gives us a wonderful life and gives us freedom to conduct it the way we want. However, there are some restraints given to us to maintain some integration. If there is nothing like right or wrong, there will be chaos and disintegration. So God has given us a conscience to discern what is right and what is wrong, and if that is not enough he has given us Bible, guidance for life in written form. Make your choices based on what is right. Is it right to cheat on your spouse? Is it right to disobey your parents? Is it right to deceive your business partner? Is it right to back bite? Is it right to afflict your employees? Is it right to insult others? Bible says, “All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the thoughts and intents of the heart”. We may escape from people but from God, we have no chance. David said, “Where can I flee from your presence God? You are everywhere”. We can not hide ourselves from God, he sees our every move. God has His own way of bringing a person into realization of his mistake.
Lean not on your own understanding. We may be the wisest of all. We may be known for tackling and handling situations or people with great maneuver. But our own understanding and intelligence has a limit. We can not always lean on our own understanding. Bible says, but be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways, know, recognize, and acknowledge God, and He will direct and make your paths straight and plain. Proverbs 3:5-6. Without God, we will fail to make right choices. We need to recognize God, our master, our father, the authority over us, to direct us. When you come before God in prayer and ask for His guidance, He will never fail you. He will show light to your path. He will put a fresh new thought in your heart, He will give you peace about your decision, and he will speak to you through the words in the Bible, because His words are like lamp to our feet.
If you stick to basics, stick to what is right and remember to consult and pray to God, you will get better and better in making right choices. No one can be an expert overnight, but these steps will surely put you on the right track of making right choices.
The choices you make today has a great impact on your tomorrow. Do not get carried away at the spur of the moment, do not become impulsive but take time to reflect and seek God’s help in making right choices for you and for your family. Align your freedom of choices with the will of God, and you will neither dread of making a choice nor jump into it in haste. You will be confident about your decision and have peace in your heart.

I found this by googleing “consult and pray”.
There was only about 150 finds.
I think it indicates how private pray is.
And how it will stay.
Jesus said pray in private.
So these 3 words show a boundry of the public and private.
Sometimes i think my soul is like a twin brother that knows
and thinks many things but yet is entwinned telepathicaly to me.
Its hard to make sense of many Biblical descriptions of
divine matters.
I wish things could be more easy to explain of the devine
instead of waiting till things become intense enough before devine matters become considerd worthy of public worship.
